A stadium built for gown and town
For half a century, Selma High School’s stadium served the community well…until it didn’t. A complete re-think of their facility resulted in a new state-of-the-art stadium that will serve both school and, during off-hours, the town. Working within the fixed boundaries of streets, tennis courts, and gym buildings, we designed a field that allows both football and soccer, with a track where state meets can proudly be held. The bleachers have added capacity and accessibility, and a 4’ raised plaza at the end of the field near the new concession building creates an informal hang-out spot during games. We added a classroom/weight room/home-team halftime room building, built a new press box, upgraded the audio system, and created an inviting entry space. The entry’s new landscaping, lighted signage, bold bollards (to be decorated by students), and Honor Wall highlighting donors all welcome visitors to this new community gem.
